It appears that the Punisher‘s encounters with some of the biggest Marvel heroes won’t end with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After Frank faces off against Peter and the Hulk, the vigilante will take on Wolverine, the Winter Soldier, and others.

Punisher: Showdowns comics to pit him against Wolverine and more

The Punisher will come face-to-face with Black Widow, Wolverine, and the Winter Soldier in various issues of Punisher Showdowns, a series of one-shot comics launching this October.

In the first issue, Punisher: Showdowns: Black Widow #1, Frank will face Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. the Black Widow, after they both arrive at the same location during their respective missions to prevent an attack in Las Vegas.

Subsequently, if Frank is still alive after this encounter, he will be pitted against Wolverine and his adamantium claws. In Punisher: Showdowns: Wolverine #1, Logan will investigate the criminal underbelly of New York City, while the Yakuza releases a dangerous substance. Meanwhile, Frank is already there, looking into these elements. Almost inevitably, their paths will cross.

Further, in Punisher: Showdowns: Winter Soldier #1, Frank finds himself in the crosshairs of the legendary Winter Soldier when he comes after a dangerous criminal. Tom Waltz, whose previous credits include Marvel Zombies: War Zone, is writing the comics.

“Landing the Punisher Showdowns gig right on the heels of my work on Marvel Zombies: War Zone is far from a punishment, let me tell you!” Waltz said, before adding.

“The Punisher has always been one of my favorite comic-book characters, all the way back to the first time I witnessed him doing battle with Daredevil in the classic Daredevil(1964) #183.”

Waltz noted that the comics allowed him to “showcase untold Punisher missions, culling from some of my favorite Marvel lore, and featuring three other fascinating superheroes with dark histories: Black Widow, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier” (via Bleeding Cool).

Punisher Showdowns: Black Widow #1 comes out on October 21, 2026, followed by the Wolverine and the Winter Soldier issues on November 4, and December 2, respectively.
