Alan Ritchson announced that he and wife Catherine would be ending their marriage after 20 years together last week, but he had already made moves to end the marriage months beforehand.

The 43-year-old Reacher star filed for divorce nine months before issuing the joint statement, according to a new report.

Alan filed for divorce on December 1 of last year following 19 years of marriage, according to legal paperwork obtained by People.

According to a previous report from TMZ, Alan and Catherine reconciled in March 2026 after he filed the paperwork, before ultimately announcing their split in September.

The couple share three sons together: Calem, 13, Edan, 12, and Amory, 10.

At this time, Alan has not publicly commented on the reason that he and Catherine are going their separate ways, apart from their joint statement confirming that they will continue to co-parent together.
