CBS News correspondent Matt Gutman is being accused of sexual harassment by a former co-worker.

On Friday (August 14), former ABC News field producer Samira Said filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the network. Said, who worked for ABC News in its Los Angeles bureau from May 2021 to March 2025, alleges in the suit that she was wrongfully terminated by ABC after she sought and was denied medical leave and accommodations for her medical conditions on several occasions, according to court documents obtained by Variety.

The lawsuit also alleges that Gutman, 48, contributed to a hostile work environment by making “sexualized” comments to her. According to Said‘s lawsuit, during her employment at ABC, she was “placed on a male-only team including on-air correspondent Matt Gutman” and two additional male crew members.

“While the team waited in a public queue during the assignment, Gutman initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent’s appearance and reducing her professional standing to a numerical score based on her physical attributes,” the lawsuit alleges. “The male crew joined in, continuing to assess the woman’s body and looks in Said’s presence. The men attempted to draw Said into the conversation by soliciting her views. Said declined and stated the conversation was inappropriate.”

On another occasion, during a press day for a film release, Said and Gutman “disagreed about whether the team should leave the work site. In front of multiple coworkers, Gutman responded by making a sexualized insinuation that Said must have an after-hours date in the city and that this is why she did not want to relocate.”

“The remark, made audibly to others, demeaned Said and reduced her professional judgment to a sexualized stereotype,” the suit states.

Gutman served as ABC News’ chief national correspondent for 15 years before joining CBS News in January as a chief correspondent. He now reports for CBS Mornings, CBS Evening News, 48 Hours, and 60 Minutes.

Neither Gutman, CBS News, nor ABC News have publicly addressed Said‘s lawsuit.
