Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by Adpathway[affiliate] I’ve been meaning to do a Friday Treat on rain coats for quite some time but honestly, they’re pretty much all awful. Either they’re ‘shower proof’ which does nothing much in a rainstorm (I shudder still at the thought of my wet shoulders in a Uniqlo so-called shower proof coat) or they’re just a bit dowdy. We get a lot of rain in the UK through all of the seasons and there’s little that’s more miserable than trudging though a field soaked to the skin so a rain coat is really an essential. Now that I’m walking Dora daily, staying is isn’t an option – you can’t wait for the rain to pass when you’ve got a dog crossing its legs at the front door. I don’t so much mind the rain other than the terror it wreaks on my hair, but I genuinely hate cold and rain together. I’ve found three rain coats I’d more than happily wear myself and they’re not dowdy!
My heart skipped a beat when I found this waterproof, fleece lined rain coat on ASOS that gives more than a nod to the Dryrobe. It just looks so cosy and I feel I could happily enter the elements all wrapped and secure. It’s got a hood, is long-line (because who wants wet legs?) and comes in black, olive (above) and a light brown. For £70 HERE, it feels like a very good buy indeed. Sizes are XS to XL (14-16) but it is designed as an oversize style.
Good to see a model look relatively happy in their rain coat. Have you ever noticed, nobody looks particularly happy in rain coat ads? I know this fully waterproof coat looks grey in the picture but it’s khaki with the signature neon piping in coral. Everything has been thought about with this design – adjustable cuffs to seal out the rain, drawcord for the hood to stop it flapping about in a storm, zip and popper fastening (you are not coming undone!) and two side pockets for chilly hands and dog treats. Sizes are from 6/8 to 22 and it’s £149 HERE.
I must admit, I haven’t considered a rain poncho before so this is a bit left of field for me but I kind of like the idea of slipping it over my head as I dash bravely into an autumnal downpour. It has sleeves so don’t worry about floundering around under a mass of fabric and it has a high neck and a hood. You will be extremely well protected in the rain. It feels like ideal dog walking material – you can move about easily and the fabric is breathable so you won’t get the sweats. You can stash as many, or as few, jumpers underneath so it’s temperature adaptable and it has a kangaroo pocket bag at the front for your bits and bobs. Made by Danish designer, Ilse Jacobsen, this has sold out on their own website but you can find it for £165 HERE.
