Eric Kripke, the co-creator of the Amazon Prime Video superhero series Gen V, recently revealed in an interview that one character almost returned in Season 2 despite dying in the first season. Notably, Gen V serves as a spin-off to Amazon’s The Boys, which is based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The spin-off show is a loose adaptation of the “We Gotta Go Now” arc from the aforementioned comic book series.

Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Golden Boy almost appeared in Gen V Season 2

Kripke revealed in a recent interview with ComicBook.com that Patrick Schwarzenegger almost came back as Luke Riordan / Golden Boy in Gen V Season 2. However, that didn’t happen due to scheduling conflicts, as Schwarzenegger was busy with The White Lotus Season 3.

“If I remember correctly, there were a couple of dream sequences,” Kripke recalled when asked if the creative team behind Gen V discussed Luke’s potential return in Season 2. “I forget who was having the dreams. Maybe Sam, but 100 percent it made its way to the outlines where Golden Boy was showing up.”

The screenwriter jokingly added, “But Patrick… I think he was shooting some tiny show about a hotel. I don’t know. Some tiny indie thing. I don’t think anyone saw it. Obviously, he was doing White Lotus and was super-busy with that and the press. I don’t think we could work out the schedules, if I remember correctly.”

In Gen V Season 1, Luke dies by suicide in the pilot, though he appears in various scenes in later episodes. Reflecting on the prospects of Schwarzenegger’s future return to Gen V, Kripke praised the 32-year-old actor. “He’s checked in with us and has been nothing but lovely,” the Supernatural creator said. “I would work with him again in a heartbeat. He is such a good, nice, genuine guy.”

Gen V Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
