J Balvin and Valentina Ferrer have called it quits.

On Wednesday (September 16), the 32-year-old Miss Universe contestant announced that she and the 41-year-old Colombian singer, whose full name is José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, have split up after nearly 10 years together.

“After sharing so many years and important moments together, José and I have decided to take separate paths,” Valentina wrote on her Instagram Story.

J Balvin and Valentina first met in 2017 on a shoot for his “Sigo Extrañándote” music video and started dating soon after. They welcomed a son named Rio in June 2021.

“[Our split] has been a decision made from love, respect and the desire to do what is best for our family,” Valentina continued. “Our priority will continue to be always accompanying Río with all our love.”

Valentina concluded her message by asking the public to give her and J Balvin some privacy as they navigate their post-split lives.

“We are going through this process calmly and deeply appreciate the understanding and respect toward this very personal moment for us,” she wrote.

As of right now, J Balvin has not publicly addressed their split.
