Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by Adpathway▪️ Modiphius Entertainment, for example, announced on July 25 that it will demo a pair of games from Ben Maunder scheduled for crowdfunding before the end of 2025: DOOM | Arena Board Game, and DOOM: The Dark Ages | Arena Board Game.
Here's a teaser for what to expect:
In each game, players face off as either the DOOM Slayer or the demonic hordes, ripping and tearing across a variety of battlefields. Facing monstrous demons drawn directly from the seminal DOOM video game series, players will use a host of devastating weapons to battle across three rounds with increasing stakes, decorating the hex-based arena with their opponent's gibs.
Both games uses the same rules, and the press release notes that "the campaign will include a variety of expansions covering enemies found in both games, including an Atlan mech and the Mecha Dragon", so I would presume that you can mix and match across the base games, with the former being based on the original 1993 DOOM video game and the latter on 2025's DOOM: The Dark Ages.
How will these games measure up against two previous releases from Fantasy Flight Games: 2004's Doom: The Boardgame from Kevin Wilson and 2016's DOOM: The Board Game from Jonathan Ying? For now, attending Gen Con 2025 is the only way to find out.
▪️ July 25 also saw a Gen Con newsletter with a sponsored post from KOSMOS that mentioned in passing "a con-exclusive mini expansion" for 2024's The Gang from John Cooper and Kory Heath.
I've poked Thames & Kosmos, the English-language publisher of KOSMOS titles, for details about this item, but for know the only info is the title visible in the image: Tools of the Trade.
▪️ Ahead of its retail release, the Prospero Hall game Menagerie: Unlock the Wonders of a Miniature World from Moose Games will debut at Gen Con 2025.
Here's a teaser of this 1-4 player game:
Unlock the wonders of a miniature world with the game Menagerie, in which you become an esteemed insect curator. Your goal is to score points by carefully arranging your terrarium, using captivating specimens from across the insect world. Expand your collection each turn using insect traits and benefactor abilities to fill your exhibits. At game's end, the player who nets the most points wins!
