Holly’s Recipe Highlights: Chick-fil-A Sauce

  • Flavor: Creamy and slightly sweet with tangy mustard and smoky barbecue flavor.
  • Why Make It: Five ingredients and one bowl make this dipping sauce quick and easy to prepare at home.
  • Technique: Whisk until completely smooth, then chill to give the flavors time to blend. Don’t skip this step!

Total Time: 35 Mins (5 Mins Prep) Makes: ¾ cup sauce

Ingredient Notes

mayonnaise , honey , bbq sauce , mustard , vinegar with labels to make Chick-Fil-A Sauce.
  • Mayonnaise: Use full-fat mayonnaise for the creamiest texture. Light mayonnaise works too, but the sauce will be slightly thinner and tangier.
  • Barbecue Sauce: Use a classic sweet and smoky barbecue sauce for the most familiar flavor. Avoid spicy or strongly flavored varieties unless you want to change the sauce’s flavor.
  • Honey: Maple syrup can work in a pinch, but it will give the sauce a noticeably different flavor.
  • Yellow Mustard: Use classic yellow mustard for the most authentic flavor. Or replace with Dijon mustard for a sharper flavor.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: A small amount cuts through the richness and brightens the sauce. Lemon juice is a good substitute and works well in many copycat versions.

Variations

  • Spicy: Add a pinch of cayenne, a splash of hot sauce, or a little chipotle powder.
  • Extra smoky: Use a smoky barbecue sauce or add a tiny drop of liquid smoke.
  • Tangier: Increase the mustard or apple cider vinegar slightly.

How to Make Chick-fil-A Sauce

  • Chill It: Don’t skip the 30-minute chill. Resting gives the ingredients time to blend.
  • Double It: Make a double batch for game day or parties and serve it with crispy chicken nuggets, air fryer French fries, or onion rings.
  • Stir Before Serving: Give refrigerated sauce a quick stir before serving, especially if it has been sitting for a few days.
