The brand new K-pop boy band just dropped their debut EP The First Wave, along with title track “NINETEEN” on Wednesday (April 8), and they’ve already garnered over a million views in a day on their music video.

The five-member group was formed through the Mnet survival competition TV show Steal Heart Club, which featured 50 contestants competing to form a global boy band.

The band is made up of Keiten, Hagiwa, Dane, Riaan, and Youn Young-jun, and features both Korean and Japanese members. And now, the group has made their official debut!

The name hrtz.wav combines “hertz,” representing the frequency of sound and emotional resonance, with “.wav,” symbolizing raw, unfiltered audio — reflecting the band’s focus on authentic, high-quality music, per Kakao Entertainment.

All five members of hrtz.wav helped to write the lyrics for the track.

Here’s more behind the meaning of the track, via their agency: “Blending an upbeat chord progression with refreshing guitar riffs and driving drum beats, the song captures a timeless, unchanging feeling reminiscent of being 19. The age 19 represents not only the legal age of adulthood in Korea, but also the symbolic threshold between youth and coming of age. The track evokes nostalgia and a feeling that is at once fleeting, emotional, and universally familiar.”
