The “Lost Angeles” singer, 36, announced that his father, Bill McGinley, 72, was found dead by local police on Friday, two days after he had gone missing during a morning bike ride in Louisville, Colorado, according to James social media.
“He’s no longer with us. RIP to my dad. He was my best friend. I love him. I have been on an emotional rollercoaster like none other than I’ve ever been through,” James said in a video post to Instagram.

McGinley was found on a bike trail in the Coyote Run Open Space area, according to Colorado Hometown Weekly, which cited the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.
He was last seen at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday heading in the direction of Harper Lake and the Coyote Run trail, according to police.
He was riding a white Specialized pedal bicycle, wearing a dark blue shirt, black shorts, white socks and shoes.
McGinley was a former professor of Literacy Studies at the University of Colorado.
He also was known for founding an online performance poetry journal for high schoolers and doing literacy-based outreach and professional development programs, according to a school biography.

His son James calls himself the “King of nu nu metal” — a play on the hard-charging genre “nu metal.”
He is also a popular “rock photographer,” snapping pics for artists like Avril Lavigne, Travis Barker, Post Malone, Lil’ Wayne, and Machine Gun Kelly.
