In a recent interview, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink admitted that she signed on for her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day without reading the script or attending an audition. This echoes the approach that many of the actors in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey said that they took to accepting their parts in the film. Sink further listed the factors that ultimately convinced her to say yes to her Spider-Man role.

Sadie Sink said yes to Spider-Man: Brand New Day role without reading the script

While speaking to Access Hollywood, the 24-year-old actress revealed that her interest in the MCU, combined with her familiarity with director Destin Daniel Cretton, made it easy for her to accept her Spider-Man 4 role.

“I think I just really wanted to play the character and to join the world. The Spider-Man universe is amazing. I’m such a fan,” Sink noted.

She continued, “But also, I’d worked with Destin, our director, when I was younger. So he, you know, talked me through the character and what he had in mind, and is obviously someone that I’d worked with before. I was very comfortable. So that kind of made it a no-brainer for me.”

Notably, accepting the role without reading the film’s script is exactly how many of The Odyssey’s cast have said they boarded the Christopher Nolan project. In a previous interview, Robert Pattinson revealed that when he was approached, he was the only cast member up to that point to have asked the Oppenheimer director about the movie’s script before saying yes. Recalling their interaction about The Odyssey, Pattinson noted, “I was like, ‘Yeah, can’t wait to read it.’ He’s like, ‘You want to read it? Everyone else just said yes.'”

Despite having jumped at the opportunity to star in an MCU movie, the promotional campaign for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been far from exciting for Sadie Sink. “It’s just kind of been boring, I guess, [because] I can’t talk about anything,” the star remarked.

With Marvel apparently deciding not to disclose Sink’s role in Brand New Day before its release, fans will have to watch Spider-Man 4 in theaters on July 31 to find out who she plays.
