Selma Blair is seen getting emotional in newly released footage from her court appearance following her arrest.

The 54-year-old actress appeared before a judge in Queens, New York, on Monday (October 12), after being accused of assaulting flight attendants, a police officer and a hospital nurse.

In footage shared by NBC 4 New York and highlighted in a new report from People, Selma appears tearful during the proceedings.

The actress pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault after allegedly kicking a Port Authority police officer and a nurse following an incident aboard a Delta Air Lines flight.

According to People, the officer reported swelling to her jaw and substantial pain to her face, neck and chest after allegedly being kicked.

A nurse at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center also reported substantial chest pain after allegedly being kicked while assisting with Selma’s medical treatment.

The judge issued an order of protection for the nurse.

Selma was released after posting $20,000 cash bail.

Selma Blair’s Lawyer Says Alleged Assaults Were Not Intentional

During Monday’s hearing, Selma‘s attorney, Shawn Barnes, argued that the alleged conduct occurred during a medical emergency.

“This was not an intentional assault,” he told the court, according to the New York Post.

Shawn said the actress, who has multiple sclerosis (MS), had missed several doses of medication before the incident.

He also claimed that Selma had been working long hours before boarding the flight and had fallen and hit her head while on the plane.

“These factors, coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” he said, according to the New York Daily News.

The attorney maintained that these circumstances explained Selma‘s alleged behavior.

A representative for the actress previously told Just Jared that Selma had experienced a medical emergency and was in stable condition after receiving medical attention.

The FBI is also investigating the alleged incident aboard the aircraft. People reports that Selma could face federal charges related to the flight, although additional federal charges have not been confirmed as filed.
