Rebecca HornerThe Wiener Staatsballett announces that soloist Rebecca Horner left the company at her own request on 31 December in order to focus more fully on her independent artistic projects.
Over her many years with the Wiener Staatsballett, Rebecca Horner was a much-appreciated member of the ensemble. Through her commitment and artistic sensitivity, she contributed to a wide range of roles, particularly within the neoclassical and contemporary repertoire. Among these was her appearance as Potiphar’s Wife in John Neumeier’s Joseph’s Legend. Most recently, she appeared as the Queen of Babylon in Alexei Ratmansky’s Callirhoe at the Vienna State Opera and as Empress Maria Theresa in Thierry Malandain’s Marie Antoinette at the Vienna Volksoper. Her work has been recognised with several distinctions, including the Fanny Elßler Ring.
The Wiener Staatsballett sincerely thanks Rebecca Horner for her many years of dedication and artistic contribution, wishes her every success in this new chapter of her career and is at the same time pleased to announce that Rebecca Horner will return to the Vienna Volksoper as a guest, appearing as Madame du Barry in Thierry Malandain’s Marie Antoinette from 6 February to early April.
