Ted Lasso Season 5 hasn’t been renewed yet, but one Apple executive just dropped the biggest hint about the show’s future. A top Apple TV figure shared his honest take on whether the hit comedy will continue beyond its current season.

Apple TV exec hopeful of Ted Lasso Season 5 renewal

Apple TV executive Eddy Cue teased the possibility of Ted Lasso Season 5 during a red carpet interview with ScreenRant. The senior vice president of services at Apple shared his thoughts while Season 4 continues airing weekly. Apple has not formally confirmed a renewal for a fifth season yet.

Cue praised the quality of the ongoing season and hinted at more stories ahead. “I hope so. It’s certainly good enough for that,” he stated about a potential pickup. He further noted, “I think there’s plenty of stories to go on. We’ll show up. No worries.”

These remarks echo what co-creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis recently said about the show’s trajectory. Sudeikis disclosed plans to head back into the writers’ room this summer. He aims to develop potential storylines for a fifth season during that creative stretch.

Reports suggest Sudeikis has a fresh three-season arc in mind for this new chapter. Season 4 has already pivoted toward AFC Richmond’s women’s football team as its central narrative. That creative shift has sparked widespread discussion about the show’s long-term direction.

The first three seasons centered on Ted, an American football coach hired to manage a British soccer club. Rebecca Welton originally brought him on board as part of a deliberate plan to tank the team. Her strategy fell apart when Ted’s optimistic leadership produced unexpectedly strong results on the pitch.

Critics have consistently responded well to the series throughout its run on Apple TV. Season 2 achieved the highest acclaim with a near-perfect 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. The fourth season currently sits at a solid 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series has also collected major industry honors, including the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Returning stars include Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt alongside Sudeikis. New cast members this season include Tanya Reynolds, Abbie Hern, Faye Marsay and Jude Mack.
