The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum has added one of the stars of the Dune franchise to its cast. The Warner Bros. Pictures movie is being directed by Andy Serkis, who will also be reprising his role as Gollum in the film.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters next year. In addition to Serkis, the movie stars Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Lee Pace as Thranduil, Kate Winslet as Marigol, Jamie Dornan as Strider, and Leo Woodall as Halvard.

Who has joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum?

Now, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Anya Taylor-Joy will also star in the film. She’ll be playing Seren, who is described as “a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm, a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil (Pace).”

Taylor-Joy appeared as Alia Atreides in 2024’s Dune: Part Two. She’ll soon be reprising that role in Dune: Part Three, which is scheduled to be released later this year, while she also voices Princess Peach in the animated Super Mario movies. Also known for leading Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, Taylor-Joy’s filmography further includes 2015’s The Witch, 2016’s Split, 2017’s Thoroughbreds, 2020’s The New Mutants, 2021’s Last Night in Soho, 2022’s The Menu, 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and more.

Original The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson is producing The Hunt for Gollum alongside Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Zane Weiner. Ken Kamins, Serkis, and Jonathan Cavendish of The Imaginarium serve as executive producers, while the screenplay comes from Walsh, Boyens, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum arrives on December 17, 2027.
