VPR's Scheana Shay Speaks Out After James Kennedy’s Domestic Violence Arrest
One Vanderpump Rules alum's stint on The Masked Singer was not "Good as Gold."
Bat was eliminated during the Fox reality competition series' March 5 episode during "Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods" night after performing a rendition of Sabrina Carpenter's earworm "Espresso."
But prior to belting out the Grammy-winner's pop song, the mystery celebrity teased the judges and viewers with some hints about their true identity.
"I'm becoming bat because I'm a creature of the night and a bit of a bat-ass," she shared in a video package. "Like bats, I'm one of the most misunderstood creatures ever. I've been forever villainized, constantly portrayed as a blood-sucking backstabber. And to that I say, 'Ew! Get over it. I am so not that bat.'"
Bat continued, "My real friends know I actually have a heart of gold. I've just been surrounded by a bunch of lunatics and for years all my words have been twisted upside down. I'm just out here partying and having the time of my life, girl, which is why I'm leaning into Dionysus, the god of partying, to show there's nothing wrong with letting your hair down."
After her performance, the star revealed her surprising connections to judge Jenny McCarthy and host Nick Cannon.
"It's been a minute since I've seen you, Jenny," Bat said coyly, adding, "You too, Nick. We actually spent a holiday together this year."
When it came to the judges' guesses, Jenny immediately picked Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa Pippen while Ken Jeong also chose a Bravolebrity by guessing Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Lisa Rinna. Meanwhile, Rita Ora stayed in the reality TV world by picking Kristin Cavallari, and Robin Thicke followed suit with another ex-Housewife, Bethenny Frankel.
However, none of them correctly guessed that the former SUR-ver under the Bat mask was longtime VPR star Scheana Shay.

"Good to see you, it was Easter," Scheana told Nick of the holiday they spent together. "We were at the L.A. Mission, serving food."
The "Good as Gold" singer went on to explain her connection to her costume.
"Bats are one of my favorite animals ever," she added. "My daughter's name is Summer Moon—bats are nocturnal. We've got a V on me for Vanderpump Rules."
As for how she thinks her daughter will react to her unmasking? Scheana quipped, "I hope she's no longer afraid of bats."
Scheana marks the second VPR castmember to compete on the show, as Tom Sandoval was revealed as season 10's The Diver in 2023.
Keep reading to meet the season 13 cast and see which other stars have been unmasked so far.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox.
