Speaking at the show’s London premiere to Reach, Hissrich revealed that Season 4 ends with a “heartbreaking” twist involving Ciri and described it as the darkest point in the story. Hissrich explained, “The finale I think is the thing everyone should brace for,” noting that the next season will bring “a redemption for some of these characters” and “some reunions and at least a little bit of happiness.” (via Express)

The team filmed Season 5 back-to-back with Season 4, adapting the final parts of Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga. It continues the journey of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri across the Continent.

Hissrich confirmed to ScreenRant that the writers approached both seasons as “one large story.” She said Season 5 serves as a natural continuation of the events from Season 4. “We treated in the writer’s room season 4 and 5 as one large story,” she stated, adding that the episodes form “the story of this family journey back together.”

Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier, echoed that view, saying the two parts “sort of feel like season 4, part 1 and 2.” Production on the final season concluded in late September, hinting at a shorter gap between releases compared to previous years.

Hissrich praised Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt of Rivia. She said he aimed to honor the established template while adding his own ease and confidence to the role. She added, “There’s such a comfort level in these scenes, and it’s like he’s always been there.”

The Witcher Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix, with Season 5 expected to arrive in 2026.
