PROTECT YOUR DNA WITH QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY
Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by Adpathway[purchase/affiliate] I had convinced myself that no foundation (other than Chanel Sublimage at £140 which is epic beyond all epicness if you like full coverage that makes your skin look perfect HERE) could be worth £104 which is the VB x AB price. I’m a big fan of the VB brand – I use her Bronze kohl almost every day and have several lipsticks and eye shadows. I’m wearing her Pop Lipstick in the picture and the kohl – I’ll put links in at the end.
The reason for the price is Augustinus Bader’s skin care technology (TFC8®) which is basically amino acids and peptides. There are clinicals but it’s not clear if they’re independent or not and the test group was 33 women aged 35-66. The final findings are based on perception but factually, 100% of testers found their skin moisture had improved. Victoria Beckam claims that after 6 weeks of use, 97% of testers saw an improvement in fine lines. Improvement is a woolly word, please note.
In use, Victoria Beckham x Augustinus Bader Foundation drops (16 shades) are a master class in easy application. A sweep of your brush is pretty much all you need – no buffing as this is a melting formula – and it’s lighter than air on the complexion. I cannot feel I am wearing anything at all and yet, I have a light-medium coverage that is doing everything it should in terms of a gentle evening out of tone and giving a fresh glow (rather than a wet looking glow) without obscuring my own skin. I used 2 and half drops – I aimed for two but some extra came out! The liquid foundation is highly pigmented but you can forget any heaviness that is often associated with high pigment. I think the secret is in the sauce, literally, because the carrier fluid holds the pigment so well and allows for even distribution that it would hard to make a mistake in applying.
Getting your shade right is crucial but there’s a decent shade chart that will make that easier – I’m wearing 6 Light Medium which is warm with neutral undertones. It’s perfect for right now but I may need to put it away as the sun disappears and bring it out again next summer. I could have had 5 Light which has neutral warm undertones and I sort of wish I had because my skin certainly isn’t going to get warmer in the coming months. When it comes to whether it’s ‘worth it’ I’m going out on a limb to say maybe so because at two drops per application, 30ml is going to last a very long time. If you add in the skin benefits and they feel important to you, you’re getting something that does more than most bases (and some moisturisers).
I’ve used Augustinus Bader skin care in the past and not found it to be particularly special – maybe because I didn’t use it for long enough or maybe because at that money I want nothing short of fast and spectacular, but in daily base form perhaps it will have long enough to show what it can do. I bought mine at SpaceNK in Covent Garden but it’s on-line HERE. Pop is HERE, and Bronze Kajal is HERE.
