Brad Pitt is reprising his role as Cliff Booth in the upcoming comedy-drama, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. However, Pitt recently clarified that the movie is not a traditional sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, describing it instead as “the continuing adventures of…”

Pitt originally portrayed Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Though he takes the title lead in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the new story shifts focus to his character as a Hollywood studio fixer in the 1970s.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Pitt shared how he passed Tarantino’s script along to David Fincher. After reading it, Fincher agreed to direct the film.

In the original 2019 film, Cliff served as the personal stunt double for Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Set in 1969 Los Angeles, the movie followed the duo tackling life in the film industry while navigating through failure and success

David Fincher and Brad Pitt reunite for Cliff Booth’s next adventure

David Fincher and Brad Pitt share a long history, having previously collaborated on three feature films. Fincher first directed Pitt in the 1995 thriller Se7en, followed by Fight Club in 1999 and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in 2008. The Adventures of Cliff Booth marks their first directorial collaboration in 18 years.

While Once Upon a Time…In Hollywood was directed by Quentin Tarantino, the filmmaker declared that he would be retiring after directing ten films. As a result, Tarantino penned the screenplay and licensed it for the production.

“Finch and I were on a plane and I gave him the script, and by the time we landed, he said, ‘I’m doing it,'” Pitt recalled.

The movie will debut in IMAX theaters on November 25, 2026, before streaming on Netflix on December 23, 2026.
