Introducing Wine & Cheese

This time, we’re heading to France: to the beautiful region of Burgundy and it’s all about wine and cheese.
In Wine & Cheese, you and your opponent each run a traditional farm producing both wine and cheese. While you share vineyards, pastures, and workers, you’re still in direct competition. Over the course of two years, you’ll need to prove your mastery of the demanding crafts of winemaking and cheesemaking: gathering ingredients, sending paired workers to plots in spring and bringing them back in autumn, letting your products age and selling them at just the right moment.
Here’s the twist: at the end of the game, you don’t simply score everything you earned. Instead, only the good that earned you less money counts. To win, you’ll need to carefully balance wine and cheese throughout the game.
Wine & Cheese is the spiritual successor to Beer & Bread but it’s far more than the same game in a new setting. It offers increased complexity, a longer playtime, and introduces a new core mechanic that creates fresh and challenging decisions. The brainy 2-player game will be released in Spring 2026 as part of our Deep Print For 2 line.

The Creators of “Wine & Cheese”

Scott Almes is a game designer from Pennsylvania, USA, best known for titles such as Beer & Bread, the Tiny Epic series, and Martian Dice. When he’s not designing games, he enjoys reading, writing, taking quiet hikes and occasionally visiting a brewery (or a winery). The artwork for Wine & Cheese comes from two renowned illustrators:
Michael Menzel created the cover illustration, while Alexander Jung illustrated the game components. Michael Menzel is one of the most well-known illustrators in modern board gaming, with works including The Legends of Andor, Thurn & Taxis, and The Pillars of the Earth.

Alexander Jung has been illustrating games and puzzles for over 20 years, contributing to titles such as Bora Bora, the Beasty Bar series, and the 2025 edition of Saboteur. We would also like to give special mention to our Editor-in-Chief Viktor Kobilke, who invested countless hours and months of work to shape Wine & Cheese into the game it is today.
