Kelly Clarkson’s headline-making new haircut has already become part of her strategy on The Voice.

During Monday night’s (September 21) Season 30 premiere, the returning coach jokingly offered contestant Hazel Gerson a clip-in piece of her hair while attempting to persuade her to join Team Kelly over Riley Green.

While Kelly debuted her new dramatic short bob on Monday, she was rocking longer locks in the first night of The Voice season 30 premiere, which turned out to be clip-ins.

The “Stronger” singer fought hard to get Hazel on her team over Riley‘s. It helped that Hazel is a genuine fan of Kelly‘s and was thrilled to meet her. At one point, she complimented Kelly‘s hair, saying her “long locks” were looking “really beautiful.”

“Thank you! I’ll give it to you. It’s clip-in. You can have it!” she said before taking some out and offering it up. “I will share. Don’t you want a coach that will share with you?”

It apparently worked, since Hazel ended up picking Kelly as her coach.

The Voice will continue with new episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Check out the full schedule here.
