Kimberly Guilfoyle has been asked to resign from her position as the U.S. ambassador to Greece.

The former Fox News host and ex-fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. was asked to step down by the White House on Tuesday (October 13), following reports of alleged misconduct.

“We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign,” White House press secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed during a briefing, according to Reuters.

“She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well,” she added.

The White House did not publicly give a specific reason for requesting Kimberly‘s resignation.

However, the decision comes after The Wall Street Journal published several reports alleging improper conduct by the ambassador, including claims involving gifts, her dealings with Greek officials and financial requests made to a political donor.

One report alleged that Kimberly asked a supporter of President Donald Trump to pay a $100,000 credit card bill before her Senate confirmation hearing in 2025.

The report also alleged that she offered to use her political connections to help the donor.

Kimberly‘s lawyers have denied wrongdoing. They said the money she sought was payment for speaking engagements and public appearances that took place before she was nominated as ambassador.

Her attorneys also denied allegations of improper private plane travel, saying she had followed State Department rules.

Donald Trump Previously Said He Was Considering Firing Kimberly Guilfoyle

The announcement comes one day after Donald Trump publicly acknowledged that he was considering removing Kimberly from the position.

“Well, we’re looking at it,” he told reporters on Monday (October 12), according to the Associated Press.

“We’re not happy,” he added.

The Associated Press also reported that the State Department’s inspector general was looking into the allegations, although it was unclear whether a formal investigation had begun.

Kimberly was nominated to serve as ambassador to Greece in December 2024, around the time her relationship with Donald Trump Jr. came to an end.

The former couple had previously been engaged. Donald Jr. has since gotten married to Bettina Anderson.
