Chanel paris fashion week

The moment the fashion galaxy had been waiting for finally arrived. In Paris, Matthieu Blazy presented his debut collection for Chanel, concluding a seismic season of designer debuts. The air was thick with anticipation, amplified by the recent announcement of Ayo Edebiri as a brand ambassador and a cryptic teaser. But from the first look, it was clear: Blazy’s vision for the house is anything but subtle.

This new era for Chanel is built on a foundation of fresh perspectives, injecting the brand’s signature codes with an upbeat, Gen-Z-friendly energy. The love for funky charms and abstract shapes was immediately evident in the accessories, which Blazy has positioned as a central pillar of his reign. He reimagined the brand’s iconic chainmail strap purses with modern variations and introduced playful clutches, including one notable piece shaped like an egg.

While the accessories made a bold statement, the runway itself was a study in dynamic movement. Blazy honored Chanel’s storied tradition of tweed but recast it in updated silhouettes with far more flow. The opening look—a slouchy, menswear-inspired suit with low-slung trousers and an asymmetric jacket—posed a powerful question: is this the new interpretation of the iconic Chanel suit?

As is customary for the house, feathers made a spectacular appearance. Yet, the final look was a true showstopper, worthy of a standing ovation. A simple silky shirt was paired with a multicolored feathered skirt, a masterpiece of texture and vibrant color with a long, dramatic train. It was a defining moment for both the house and its new creative director.

Complementing the collection was Chanel’s signature approach to beauty: classic, timeless, and effortlessly chic. The models showcased clean, luminous skin and natural hair textures, often styled in slicked-back buns—a perfect canvas for the vibrant artistry of the clothes and the new era of chunky gold necklaces, layered pearls, and statement earrings.

With this debut, Matthieu Blazy has not only made good on the legacy of Chanel but has also proven why he was chosen for the role. He has successfully launched the house into a new orbit, one filled with youthful verve, bold accessories, and a fearless love for the extravagant. A new age for the iconic brand is unequivocally here.
