Matthieu Blazy’s first collection as Chanel’s creative director signalled a confident new chapter for the house. The designer, who joins from Bottega Veneta with an impeccable track record in modern luxury, infused the maison with contemporary vigour while keeping its unmistakable sensibility intact.
For Spring/Summer 2026, Blazy focused on what Chanel has always done best: creating objects of quiet desire with a sense of play. The new line-up of “It” handbags showcases how the house’s classic codes can evolve without losing their essence. As with Chanel, the magic lies in the details – each element is expertly crafted with an artisanal precision that feels both current and deeply rooted in the brand’s heritage.
Leather appears softer and more fluid, hardware is refined to minimalist proportions, and colour takes on more nuanced hues. Silhouettes range from an egg-shaped clutch, petite top-handle shoulder bags, to extra-large slouchy carryalls, offering versatility.
The collection sits harmoniously alongside Blazy’s ready-to-wear collection, featuring essentials that showcase modern refinement and elevated ease. The knits and tweeds that walked the runway were softened, heightened with excessive details, and styled with confidence that felt unmistakably modern. Together, the clothes and accessories captured a new energy for Chanel that feels luxuriously grounded, relevant, and effortlessly iconic.
