Ryan Lochte‘s ex-wife, Kayla Rae Reid, is speaking out his fiancée, Molly Gillihan.

The 42-year-old Olympic gold medal-winning swimmer’s ex called out his fiancée after she publicly talked about their children and custody agreement, and said her “obsession” with her “needs to end.”

“I find it deeply disturbing that someone who has seemingly spent years studying my life, inserting herself into it, and attempting to replicate aspects of it continues to make me and my children a topic of public conversation,” Kayla said in a statement to Us Weekly. “The irony of being called a narcissist by someone who appears so relentlessly preoccupied with me is not lost on me.”

“I filed for divorce. I chose to leave my marriage. I have absolutely no interest in revisiting it, competing with anyone for it, or participating in whatever bizarre narrative is being created to make someone else feel relevant,” she continued.

“While they are busy discussing me, I am busy raising three children and carrying nearly all of the physical and financial responsibilities that come with that,” Kayla said about her ex-husband and his fiancée. “I don’t have the luxury of making someone else’s life my occupation.”

“If I had the same amount of free time and disposable income, perhaps I would be spending it exploring my legal options rather than repeatedly asking for basic boundaries to be respected,” she shared, adding that she “worked incredibly hard to build a peaceful, happy life outside of that marriage.”

Kayla said she has “no desire to be dragged back into the dysfunction I made the conscious decision to leave,” and doesn’t want her former marriage back, nor be involved in her ex’s relationship.

“I do not want to be discussed, monitored, contacted under false pretenses, or used as a story line. And I certainly do not want my children used for public attention,” she concluded. “At some point, the obsession needs to end. I have moved on. I suggest everyone else do the same. Leave me and my children alone. It really is that simple.”

Us Weekly noted they reached out to Ryan for comment, but he said he has none regarding his ex-wife’s statement.

Kayla‘s words come after Molly was reportedly recently asked during an Instagram Q&A if Ryan “sees his kids” since they live in Missouri and they live in Florida with their mother, who is their primary guardian.

“[He sees them] every month and we will have them here Christmas break, spring break and most of the summer. But it’s definitely not enough,” Molly said. “We miss them like crazy and praying this is just a season.”

Ryan and Kayla split in the summer of 2025 after seven years of marriage.

A month after they announced they were divorcing, Ryan went Instagram official with Molly, and denied cheating rumors.

Earlier this year, Ryan and Molly moved in together, and in June, he proposed to her.

Back in April, Kayla shared an alleged email from Ryan, where he said Molly was “a ten times better mother” than her.
